If you’re here to learn about creating a study schedule to pass your NP boards, then pat yourself on the back for being so proactive! Whether you’re getting ready to graduate or are finally ready to buckle down and get some solid studying time in, you have come to the right place.
In this post, we’ll go over why it’s super helpful to have a study plan for your NP boards and also discuss SMNP Review’s awesome study planner tool to take the guesswork out of making a study plan.
What are the benefits of making an NP boards study plan?
First, why should you make a study plan? The main reason is to decrease (some of) your test-taking stress and anxiety! Having a solid plan in place helps with time management and allows you to feel less overwhelmed. Since you have dedicated time for studying, you can be more productive with other tasks and know how much time you can devote to other things (including fun things!). A study plan offers balance with life and study time.
Another benefit to planning ahead is better test scores! We learn best when we break down large amounts of time and material and spread it out over smaller chunks. It’s more digestible for our brains and we’re more likely to retain more information. With a proper study plan, you’ll spend less time deciding what to study and more time actively studying. It will help you think more about how to space out areas of review to make sure you’re not forgetting any topics, and it helps to guarantee that you won’t be cramming at the end right before your big test!
When should you start studying for your NP boards?
We recommend starting to study for your NP board exam within the first three months after graduation and then spacing out your studying over about 4–6 weeks. That gives you enough time to review the material and gives you flexibility in your schedule while still allowing the content to be fresh in your mind.
Once you finish your study plan, then we recommend scheduling your NP board exam within the following two weeks.
